Drupal
Submitted by jroy on August 31, 2010 - 01:03As you know, the IIUG has a page devoted to open source products that can run on Informix. There has been a new addition recently. It is a patch to have Drupal version 6.16 run on Informix.
Drupal is a popular product that provides capabilities to publish, manage and organize a wide variety of content on a web site. To run it with Informix, you need:
- Informix version 11.50 or higher
- PDO_IBM (and the IBM common drivers to compile it)
- Web Server with PHP

I hope that you had the chance to listen to the latest Chat with the Labs web conference. The topic was really interesting, specially if you're running Informix 7.31, 9.4 or 10. As you should know all these versions are out of support (v10 will be by the end of September). In this call, IBM announced (or re-announced) three options for support of these versions:

A new draft Redbook was announce by IBM through RSS feeds. It's called IBM Informix Developer's Handbook and it covers lots of aspects of Informix application development and several client technologies (ESQL/C, Java, ODBC, OleDB, PHP, .NET, Hibernate, Ruby...).
I took the opportunity to include some direct RSS feed on the right side of the blog. You can check it for new APARs, announcements etc.

Common Drivers
Submitted by jroy on August 24, 2010 - 16:41In my blog entry of February 17, 2010, I had to put out a retraction about the common drivers. As I said then, I had to start lobbying for their inclusion with Informix.
I am happy to report that the Informix client SDK version 11.50.xC7 includes these drivers. Note that they are not included in Informix 11.50.xC7. I would expect that future releases of Informix will include a CSDK that has the common drivers.

Informix success stories .... What is your's?
Submitted by pkutty on August 21, 2010 - 03:58Who loves Informix? You do?
Tell IBM about it! If you are interested in sharing how Informix improves your business, IBM wants to hear from you.
“Success story” information can be used in a number of ways. One option is to produce a case study that gets posted to ibm.com. See examples here.
