A trip down memory lane

As I browsed thru the current issue of the german computerweek, I saw a picture of my old chief Thomas Garmhausen und a short summary about the history of his company "Garmhausen & Partner". I started my professional career about 20 years ago at "Garmhausen & Partner".

HTML and Applet

Wow! It's been three weeks since my last entry. It's been a busy three weeks. I've been pulled into a proof-of-concept (PoC) and ended up having to write a GUI user interface. I'm not done with it but, since I feel a little less time pressure, I can take some time to write a blog entry.

Sub-Capacity Pricing for Virtualized Environments

A new sub-capacity pricing plan was announced in February that makes it more affordable to run IDS in virtualized environments.

All editions of IDS are now available and supported in a virtualized environment. Sub-capacity pricing is now available to all IDS V11.50 editions and corresponding components, helping you reduce costs and maximize your investments with server consolidation and reduced administration. IBM is responding to your tremendous interests in high availability and business continuity.

Chat with the Labs slides - where to get them

This week I managed to listen to most of Veronica Gomes' and Dennis Allen's Chat with the Labs on integrating Informix with SolidDB and was glad I did. It was packed with useful information.

Incidently, if you ever need slides for any of the chat with the lab series, including the latest one, you can download them from here:

Green: further thoughts

This is my second post about the green topic. If you're a frequent visitor you're probably used to more technical posts, or at least Informix oriented posts (that's what the blog is about!), but I couldn't avoid thinking about these issues and I'd like to share some thoughts with you.
